Adult Learning

Adult Learning

Infographics is an easy way to learn the topic and highlights of the information without yet reading the entire paper. Pictures are easier to read and quickly get to the point. As I learn about the power of Infographics it amazes me how much we have seen during our lifetime displayed this and we ignored how powerful of an impact the displayed made upon us.
As I continue my education as an adult, I realize in each class I take how I can use the information from each class not only to obtain a better job with new knowledge but also how the world around us does so many different things to keep us focused.
As an adult with children, it becomes especially difficult to spend the required time on school. I have done two to three classes at a time for a few years, I've learned a few ways to be successful in school while running a household and full-time employment.

The chances of being successful while in school are higher if you follow the following steps. Obviously, every person has their individual learning style however, for me this has worked in the past. First step is showing up to class and being on time. If you want to learn you need to be there while the teaching is programmed. This will reduce confusion while doing homework and help understand the topic. Second step, avoiding distractions available on our hand-held devices. Talking to your family about when to call or text while you are in class. Family should only call or text if it’s absolutely an emergency. It is important to give the professor your undivided attention which is only possible if you stay away from the phone or tablet. Next step, as we mature, we realize we need to be closer to the board and the professor. Arriving early and getting a chair upfront is important to see, hear and have proximity to the professor. Also, as important the next step is buying the required text and programs. This step is a MUST! Trying to skip on obtaining the required book can put you behind, consequently catching up after a few weeks could be difficult and stressful.  Once you have done all the previous steps it is extremely important to have a positive relationship with the professor. Building a relationship with the professor is critical. Achieving a comfortable relationship with the professor will help you to reduce anxiety when there are questions or concerns. Lastly and I think the most important step is, giving yourself the time required for homework and reading. Setting up a schedule at home to do homework will save you on last minute rushing. Procrastinating can lead you into failing classes even if all other steps are done.

Adult learning is challenging please try to take the steps that work for you to find the success you are going after. The reward at the end of the road will be worth and the example you set at home is amazing.

Good luck to all!
